Hungary Players Pay Tribute to Injured Team-Mate Varga

Outpouring of Support for Striker After Serious Injury

Varga Stable in Hospital After Cheekbone Fracture

Hungary forward Barnabas Varga is in stable condition in hospital after suffering a fractured cheekbone during his team's final group match at the European Championship. The 25-year-old striker went down in the second half after an apparent clash with Scotland's goalkeeper Angus Gunn following a corner. Varga was taken from the field on a stretcher and was later diagnosed with a fractured cheekbone. The injury has come as a blow to Hungary, who have already qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament. Varga has been one of Hungary's key players in the tournament, scoring two goals in their first two matches. His Hungary team-mates have paid tribute to Varga, with captain Adam Szalai saying: "We are all behind Barnabas and we wish him a speedy recovery. He is a fighter and I know he will come back stronger than ever." Hungary will now face Germany in the knockout stages of the tournament. The match will be played on Saturday, June 18.
